Several years ago, I attended a class taught by and well-known homemaking guru, Daryl Hoole. One of her many bits of advice was to do "Something that Stays Done" every day. I have followed this advice off and on, but want to make it a habit in 2011!

P.S. To see the blog that inspired me to get started and to see more great ideas of things to get done, check out dirtylittlesecrets2010.blogspot.com. Thanks, Becky!

Flower Pot Refill

Every year I drive an hour north to get something to replace this...
The nursery in Layton sells these as hanging baskets
and they're a great price.
Here's what I ended up with this year.,,
It makes my porch look so pretty :)!

E-6000

I fixed a couple of these today.
I'm in love with this glue.
I use it on everything!
Two of them are under the windows in this picture.
I also cleaned the carpet after the neighbor boy smashed grapes all over my kitchen
and tracked it onto the carpet.
Grrr!

Blue Eyes

My bathroom is finally finished.
I got rid of wall-to-wall mirroring and the black toilet a while ago.
Now I've replaced the black countertop and black sink.
The granite is called "Blue Eyes."
Pretty amazing that something like this happens in nature
and even more amazing that humans can find it, harvest it,
ship it to Utah from India, make it pretty, and install it in my house
all for around 400 bucks!
I'm on a search now for some towels and accessories
to match the blue eyes!

Job Charts

I got some inspiration from this pin on pinterest to make some new job charts for the summer.
I have big plans at the beginning of every summer.
I hope this one lasts long past August.
Here is my version of the above pin.
I'm telling the half dozen that until noon every day this summer, they're mine!
There are four mandatory chores at the top and others they can choose.
The four at the top they do because they live here,
the others might come with a reward.
They're going to love me even more!
Muwahaha!

Graphic Artist in Training

Here's a little something I've been working on.
I have a good friend who has an autism website (www.thrivingwithautism.com).
She needed some quotes typed up all cute for her site so she hired a graphic arts student...
and wasn't impressed with the results.
She asked if I'd like to give it a try.
Here's some of what she sent...
“Someone with Asperger’s really is like you, just more extreme.” Dr. Winnie Dunn

"For success in science and art a dash of autism is essential." Hans Asperger

“I want the word Autism to provoke an image of a wonderful and unique person.” Amanda Baggs

"People with autism have a different way of looking at the world, and that should be celebrated." -Autism Society

And here's what I did with it!

It was really fun to use my brain for something different.
