Several years ago, I attended a class taught by and well-known homemaking guru, Daryl Hoole. One of her many bits of advice was to do "Something that Stays Done" every day. I have followed this advice off and on, but want to make it a habit in 2011!

P.S. To see the blog that inspired me to get started and to see more great ideas of things to get done, check out dirtylittlesecrets2010.blogspot.com. Thanks, Becky!

Front Door Wreath

When I saw a white wreath on Pinterest,
I decided that I needed one on my front door.
It is made out of this...
And turns out like this...
Lots of bang for you buck with this coffee filter and styrofoam wreath!
I may have to try it on a styrofoam ball next.

A Dream Come True

The husband loves a long soak in a hot tub.
He's wanted a hot tub for as long a I've known him.
He says that when he was little, he'd ask his mom for a hot tub
and she would offer to blow bubbles through a straw in the bathtub.

Well...last summer when we redid the backyard, he had a pad poured for a hot tub.
And this week, his dream came true.
(This is him before work checking to see if it is up to temperature.)
It's going to be a fun summer for him and the half dozen!!!
I may even try it out.

Bids, Bids, and More Bids

Since my $200 backsplash idea,
my kitchen updating project has blossomed.
I've spent the last three days getting bids for
granite countertops,
kitchen cabinet painting,
backsplash installation,
etc.
Hopefully there is a contractor out there who really needs some work
and who really wants to give me a screamin' deal.
I'm still looking for him!

Here are a couple of pictures of what I want the kitchen to look like...
White cabinets and green walls.
I'll let you know how it goes!

NY Laundry

My sister-in-law in New York has done it again.
The washer and dryer in her house are downstairs,
but there is a laundry room on the main floor that was used for storage.
Now they want it to be for doing laundry.
Here's what it looked like after they got rid of the flooring...
And here it is now...
Kinda makes me want to do some of my own laundry.
Not really, what it really does is make me wish my husband could do tile!

KItchen Update

Here's a sneak peak of something I've been trying to start.
Now, after looking for months and months,
I have the paint and backsplash tile I want for the kitchen
and the husband thinks we should get new countertops first.
*Sigh!*

Basement Closet

This is not the first time that this closet has made and appearance on this blog.
It was clean and organized last year.
There are bins of boys' clothes in order under all of this mess.
When my boys outgrow something, they just throw it in the closet.
I organized it again today.
I guess I better tell them that the numbers on the bins represent the size of the clothes in the bin.
Do you think that would help?
(This something did help with my bag-a-day goal.  Two bags off to the D.I.!)

Overdue Fixes

These two somethings have been needing repair for a long time.
Like years...
I finally got the pieces together today and fixed them.
One was a doll missing some hair and shoes and the other was a wreath missing it's heart.
All fixed...
It took about three years to get around to fixing these things
and three minutes to fix them.

Do you ever have projects like that?

NY Sister Post

My sister-in-law, Jana, just sent me pictures of her spare bedroom.
She's been wanting to get rid of the blue paint since she moved in.
Look how amazing it looks!
I think I need some paint that color in my house.

Baptism Talk

The 8-year-old boy got baptized on Saturday.
The 11-year-old boy gave a talk.
I've used this talk many times.
Since it was for our family (and the old one was falling apart),
I made a new pretty one!

Freezer Dinners

More freezer meals today.
This time it is Tater Tot Casserole.
Not the healthiest meal we eat,
but one of the tastiest!
;-)

Therapy Mirror

When I took the 3-year-old girl to therapy last month,
every room had big mirrors that she loved.
We took a big mirror out of our bathroom recently
so I chipped off most of the glue
and mounted it in her room.
Now the torture fun begins!

Hang it up!

I decided to finally take care of this mess today.
I had read about making a cute cork board jewelry organizer,
but I chose to use what I had.
Here is the result.
And here is the bag I'm getting rid of.
